Our DNA

We are…

Christ Centred

It sounds obvious, but Christianity is all about Christ!  Therefore, we want the mission, gospel and glory of Jesus Christ to be at the very centre of all that we do.

Bible Confident

In a world of competing authorities, we are convinced that the bible is the very ‘breathed out’ Word of God and so must be the supreme authority that governs, shapes and controls everything that we do.  Although culture changes all the time, the truth doesn’t. Therefore we won’t compromise on biblical convictions or water down God’s Word. This is seen in our commitment to expositional preaching in our churches, believing that the shape and emphasis of our preaching should rightfully submit to the shape and emphasis of a biblical text, such that God’s Word is allowed to speak for itself.

Gospel Focussed

The Island has many needs.  However we are convinced that the greatest of those needs is to know the bible’s message of rescue and life in Jesus Christ.  Therefore we are united in our passion to make the proclamation of this unchanging message to the communities of the Isle of Wight our primary focus.

Risk Taking

Because the truth of the gospel is unchanging, but the culture is changing all the time, churches need to be faithful and uncompromising in their commitment to biblical truth, while adapting flexibly to cultural change.  We therefore reject the idea of church as a cosy club for the comfortable and embrace the discomfort of creative, entrepreneurial risk-taking for the sake of the gospel.

Mission Driven

Spurred on by the great commission of the Lord Jesus to go and make disciples, we want to be intentional in reaching the unreached here on the Isle of Wight, through the planting and growing of healthy local churches. 140,000 people live on our Island but there are many communities with little access to a healthy gospel church. We want to play our part in seeing that change.

Relational

The gospel creates community.  We want to express this by being a collective of churches that are relational and interdependent, working in partnership together for the advance of the gospel and eager to give generous and practical support to one another as we do that. We are convinced that we can do more together than we can on our own!
